Glass Fibre Mesh
Glass fibre mesh also known as chicken mesh is used as a sandwich material in plaster, concrete and waterproofing works. It is made from high tensile glass fibre. It ensures crack free plaster especially near plumbing / electrical joints. Also, it increases durability of waterproofing layers especially in high traffic / sun exposed areas.

Plaster has good compressive strength but poor tensile strength, so it tends to crack when elongated. Hence, glass fibre mesh is sandwiched between the plaster especially near plumbing / electrical joints to avoid plaster cracks.
When waterproofing is done on large area exposed to direct sunlight, it tends to crack due to elongation. Hence, glass fibre mesh is sandwiched between layer of waterproofing for extra protection against cracks.
